Cuvée Clos des Greneriers
AOC – MOULIN-A-VENT
The newest addition to Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux, the single plot cuvée Clos des Greneriers is the perfect balance between purity of aroma and complexity. The vines are located on the village’s former grain plains, which once powered the nearby windmill. The rich soils are composed of very deep, altered pink granite, which has a strong influence on the organoleptic profile of the cuvée.

Terroir
Our young vines at Clos des Greneriers are planted on very weathered, deep granite soil with a manganese vein running through it. In the past, this rich soil was home to large grain plains that fed the windmill overlooking the vineyard, hence the name Greneriers. Double Royat cordon pruning enables us to work the soil with precision.
Vinification
Cuvée du Clos des Greneriers comes from a single parcel, which we vinify separately. After carefully selecting the grapes, maceration begins with most of the bunches de-stemmed. Alcoholic fermentation continues for 10 to 12 days. The work in the vats is delicate, to extract a beautiful intense ruby colour and supple, silky tannins, while preserving as much as possible of the Gamay’s primary aromas, such as black cherry, strawberry, or blackcurrant. Then, for a further 10 months, the cuvée is matured in a Tava amphora, hand-made in Italy. This aroma-neutral container has a high capacity for micro-oxygenation, allowing us to preserve the wine as we wanted it, while adding great complexity.
